Nalan was bidding farewell to a good friend and wrote this poem.

In Chinese, willow(柳) and stay(留) sound similar. Thus ancient people has the tradition
to break willow branches(break stay) as a gesture for bidding farewell.

The poet first wrote:

Again[重来] we are drinking together[对酒] (to bid farewell).
We will break all[折尽] the willow[柳] branches facing the wind[风前] to vent our deep sentiments about this separation.

If anybody asks[若问] me about my current feelings[情绪] on watching[看] blossoming flowers[花],
I hope I could say that they are similar[似] to those feelings of the last time[当日],
but how could they be[怎能够]?! (because I am so sad that you are leaving)

Then the poet turned to sigh about the unfairness of life, and he also tried to appease his friend
to take those unfairness as granted. He wrote:

Now don't you worry[休为] about the bleak scenery where the west wind[西风] blew and a lonely thin[瘦] horse stood.
On the surface we are now binging to our hearts' content[
yet also frequently[频] we are scratching our heads[搔首] (a subconscious move that shows anxiety).

Since ancient time[自古], bad things like green flies[青蝇] would stain good things like white jade[白璧].
But we'd better swallow the fact because the heaven[天] had already[已早] have everything arranged[安排就].

 ------------ Gary's English translation ----------------

Again we are drinking together.

We will break all the willow branches facing the wind to vent our deep sentiments.

If you ask me about my current feelings on watching those blossoming flowers,
I hope I could say that they are the same as before,
but how could they be?!

Now don't you worry about the bleak west wind or a lonely thin horse.

Supposedly we should binge to our hearts' content,
but why are you scratching your head so frequently?

Since ancient time bad things like green flies would stain good white jade.

That is something already been arranged by the heaven.
