Hope you can join us: Li Fong-Ping, Yang Chi-Sheng, Lu Shia-Ming. If you can, call for more info. Best wish to you and your family. Kung-Cheng Huang ============================================================================= Dan Shia wrote: 2/24/03 Ganlin, Thank you so much for updating the Feipeng web site. My apology for not responding earlier. I have read all your articles. I was laughing and smiling while reading them. I could still see the same unyielding spirit of you back in the high school days.:-) By the way, I agree with most of what you said in those articles. To give you an update of my life after graduation from Jian Zhong, I will forward to you in the next email (addressed to you only) a short biography and a recent photo of my wife and me. You may want to add them to the web site for those who are interested. This photo was taken in Las Brisas hotel in Acapulco, Mexico last week. If anyone wants a 2nd or 3rd honeymoon, this is the hotel of choice. It has a very good view to the Acapulco bay (in my opinion, the most beautiful in the world). The biography should give you a summary of what I did from 1980 until 2001. Here are a few pieces of additional information to fill the gaps: - I worked for the Northwest Airlines for 4 years after the military service, and then I went to Ohio to study city planning in 1980. I switched to computer science one year later, and never regret the change. I think I have found the work I love. :-) - In late 2001 I founded another software company in Chengdu, China, targeting telecom service providers in China. This company now has about 80 people with $2M revenue last year. I currently hold the Chairman and CTO titles. We are raising the 2nd round funding now. - I am currently working on a leadership/management training program to help other people to succeed in business. Eventually, I hope to help lots of Chinese to have a better life. If anyone is interested, I can share more information about this. - As for my personal life, I got married in 1981 with 袁蕙? and now we have a son of 15-year old. My wife graduated from NTU with a English major in 1975. - We moved to San Jose in 1998 from New Jersey, and San Francisco in 2001. - My home address is 765 Market St. #26A, San Francisco, CA 94103. My phone number is 1-415-348-8541. cell 917-331-1022 Let's keep in touch. Dan (So-ming) Shia ================================================================================ Kung-cheng, Glad to hear from you. Thank you for the invitation. If I can somehow arrange for the trip to L.A., I will ask for more information. However, it does not seem to be likely. When I do visit L.A. in the future, I will contact you first. On the other hand, when you get a chance to come to the bay area, please make sure that you call me in advice, since we do travel periodically. Best wish to you and family, Dan ================================================================================ Bio of Dan Shia: Dan is the founder and ex-Chairman of DSET Corporation, a New Jersey based software company. While he held the CEO position, DSET grew from $0 to $13M in revenue. In 1996, DSET was named "Private Company of the Year" by the New Jersey Technology Council and, in 1997, was ranked as America's 35th fastest growing private company on the "Inc 500" list. To prepare for an IPO in 1998, he brought in a professional management team to manage daily operations while he continued working on technical innovations. While he acted as Chairman and CTO, the company continued to grow and achieved $50M in sales. On the technical track, Dan has successfully invented the world's most advanced software twice in his career. In 1990, he built the world's first distributed object platform. No other platform could surpass its capabilities until 1998. In 1993, he built the best Telecom Management Network (TMN) management tool in the world. Within a year, his firm beat all other competitors and became the world's leading provider of TMN tools. In short, Dan has a proven track record for being a visionary leader in software as well as an entrepreneur who can transform his technical vision to business success. Before establishing DSET in 1989, Dan spent four years as a consultant for Bellcore (now Telcordia), where he developed communications protocols and a network management system for a broadband network. From 1983 to 1985, Dan was a consultant for AT&T Bell Laboratories. Dan received a BS degree in civil engineering in 1974 from the National Taiwan University, followed in 1982 by an MS in computer science from the University of Dayton.
