I hope you still remember me. You taught me the Tic Tac Toe, Counting the Numbers, and some other games, during our boring Morning Gatherings. It was quite a fun time looking back now. Prof. G.P. Yu visited Los Angeles recently. He called me on the phone, invited me out for a nice dinner, and shared with me the Feipeng Web address. Since then, I have called Huang Kung-Cheng and Lee Fong-Ping. I found, not just the faces (from the picture), their voices did not change much after 30+ years. Hopefully, we can say the same 10 more years from now. After graduated from Tsing Hua U. (Chemistry Dept) in 1974, I served in Kinmen for almost two years. So, I went back to Tsing Hua as a TA for a year before I came to the US for the graduate study. In my chemical career, I mostly stayed in the Northeast region (and visited Raleigh, NC often, as my sister-in-law is there). I started to move westwards in 1997. I was employed in Micron Technology for a year in Boise, ID (Most of my Chinese friends either love or hate Micron for its stock performance). I have been in LA for almost 5 years by now. I have 3 kids, born in 1984, 1988, and 1992 (son, daughter, and son). I am experiencing the same "hefty tuition pressure" as you are; however, when you are qualifying for more of the financial aids. I would still have the same pressure for 12 years straight. One of the reasons for me to come to LA is to have a business to target the fast-growing market in Mainland China (although my wife is still strongly against the idea). So far, I have visited many times in Guangdong area, besides Taiwan. It is by no means easy. Perhaps I should attend the leadership/management training program offered by Shia So-ming.
